Adventure Tape

Listen: Tape No.16 – Nkechi Anele’s Exploration Music

Nkechi sings in the band Saskwatch. This year they have been touring around Australia performing songs from our latest album, that was recorded last year in Philadelphia, called  ‘Sorry I Let It Come Between Us’.

Music to listen to when exploring new and exciting places while everyone else is preoccupied. (To be listened to whilst tip toeing, skipping, sleuthing. Alternatively great to listen to while feeling a strong sense of wonderment.) Some of the songs I have chosen for this mixtape are quite delicate, and I think this suits the idea of exploring new places with excitement but also a bit of apprehension. The other tunes that I have chosen are quite joyous and really fun because discovering new things is always a hyper stimulating experience. I like the way a lot of these songs use space and the feeling of space that they create. There are songs in the list that feel as though they could stretch on for eons and have quite disorienting alien qualities to them. Others are quite intimate and simple. I sometimes find that the songs that can make you stand still, or just tune out for a bit, can have the deepest impact on the listener. I have found this to be true when we’ve been driving long distances between shows. All the singers in these songs have really beautiful and unique voices which is something I really enjoy, love and respect.
